Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State swim team looks to build momentum for the conference championships as they wrap up regular season competition at the UMary Pentathlon this weekend. The Wolves and Marauders are scheduled for a 1 p.m. meet start on Saturday afternoon at the BSC Aquatic & Fitness Center in Bismarck, North Dakota. The pentathlon will not have a winning team, rather there will be one individual champion based on fastest combined time in all five events during the meet.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
- Northern State completed dual meet competition with a record of 8-7 on the season and 6-6 against conference opponents, marking the first winning dual meet record in program history and most dual wins in a single season in program history
- Last Saturday the Wolves split a pair of duals at the SMSU Tri-Dual, falling to Southwest Minnesota State (121-101) and defeating Minnesota Morris (151-50)
- Northern recorded five event wins in the tri-dual against the Mustangs and Cougars as Lilly Grebner won the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.05), 400-yard IM (4:49.04), and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.27) while Lauren Forsyth won the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.41) and Haley Osborne won the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.92)
- Grebner holds the fastest time in the NSIC in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.65), 100-yard IM (57.43), 200-yard IM (2:03.84), and 400-yard IM (4:29.70); she also ranks 11th in the NSIC in the 100-yard butterfly (58.15) and 13th in the 50-yard butterfly (27.11)
- Grebner holds the fastest time in NCAA Division II in the 100-yard IM (57.43), ranks 12th nationally in the 200-yard IM (2:03.84), and is 13th nationally in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.65)
- Forsyth ranks second in the NSIC in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.70), sixth in the 100-yard butterfly (57.38) and seventh in the 50-yard butterfly (26.67)
- Others to rank within the top-15 of the NSIC in an event include Delaney Ryken who ranks 13th in the 50-yard freestyle (24.04), Maddie Gonzales is 14th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.79), and Mayson Sheldon is 15th in the 50-yard breaststroke (31.64)
- Through ten meets this season Northern has claimed 42 individual wins, 104 individual top-3 finishes, and nine relay wins
- Grebner has a team-best 24 individual wins and 26 top-3 finishes this season; other NSU swimmers to win individual events this season include Maddie Gonzales (5), Haley Osborne (5), Lauren Forsyth (3), Mayson Sheldon (2), Delaney Ryken (1), Hannah Rodts (1), and Brianna Back (1)
UMARY STORYLINES
- UMary is set to complete their dual meet schedule tonight (January 27), competing in a tri-dual against Concordia-Moorhead and Jamestown; Saturday's pentathlon against Northern State will end regular season competition for the Marauders as the teams prepare for the conference championships
- The Marauders last competed January 13-14 at the Dragon Invite, finishing runners-up to Northern
- UMary won a total of ten events in the meet, claiming four relay wins (200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard medley relay, and 800-yard freestyle relay), Victoria Murillo earned three wins (200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, and 1,000-yard freestyle), Jordn Wolsky won two events (200-yard butterfly and 100-yard IM), and Breena DeLegge won one event (50-yard freestyle)

LAST MATCH-UP
- Gonzales won last season's UMary Pentahlon competition with a total time of 3:02.70 on January 22, 2022
- Northern State claimed three of four top individuals last season as Osborne and Forsyth finished third and fourth respectively with total times of 3:03.68 and 3:04.32
