Northern State Grabs Provisional Marks from Jo Meaker Classic

Canyon, Texas – The Northern State University track and field teams concluded the Jo Meaker Classic on Saturday with 19 top-10 finishes. In addition, one school record fell and multiple Wolves hit national provisional marks.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Brady Janssen took eighth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.88 and sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.59
  • Nathan Alton recorded a tenth place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:11.36, followed by Jonathan Burkhalter in 14th with a time of 4:22.30
  • The 4x400m relay team of Chase Domier, Jackson Willis, Dylan Schimke, and Ronald Stephenson placed fifth with a time of 3:30.63
  • Tanner Berg won the hammer throw with a new school record mark of 69.55m, followed by Nick Olson and Ethan Barnett in fifth and ninth with throws of 51.10m and 39.37m
  • Berg, Olson, and Barnett added fourth, tenth, and 12th place finishes in the shot put with marks of 16.26m, 13.82m, and 13.60m respectively
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Renea Taylor opened the running events with a tenth place finish in the 100m, crossing the finish line in 12.04
  • Shanice Burrell continued the success on the track taking fourth in the 100m hurdles with a provisional time of 13.99
  • Mary Franssen added a tenth place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:21.77, while Summer Carlson rounded out the top-15 with a time of 2:25.19
  • Franssen went on to place fifth in the 1500m with a time of 5:05.99, followed by Megan Mooberry in eighth with a time of 5:10.88
  • The 4x400m relay team of Isabel Kinzer, Carlson, Alli Jackson, and Taylor took fourth with a time of 4:02.56
  • Tava Berg tallied a fifth place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.58m
  • Cassidy Gough led the women's throwers in the hammer, tossing a provisional mark of 52.52m in fifth place overall, followed by Shawney Coenraad in 11th with a 44.65m toss
  • Taylor closed out her day with a fourth place finish in the 400m hurdles, notching a team of 1:03.83, while Kinzer and Sierra Sweeney took ninth and 12th with a times of 1:07.10 and 1:10.64
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Berg broke his own school record in the hammer, a throw of 68.60m set in 2021
  • Berg's throw extends his standing at the top of the NCAA by over seven meters
