Wolves Fall to Lakers in Florida Finale

Auburndale, Fla. – Northern State baseball concluded their trip to the 2022 RussMatt Invitational in Florida today with a 2-0 loss to Grand Valley State. The Wolves ended their trip with a record of 3-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • One of Northern State's best scoring opportunities came immediately in bottom of the first inning when Jack Paulson tripled to right field, however the Wolves struck out the next two at-bats and left Paulson stranded on third
  • Grand Valley State scored the only two runs of the game in the fourth inning when Nathan Logan doubled down the left field line to score Kyle Nott, the very next at-bat Justin Ratliff grounded out to score Christian Faust
  • Northern was able to string together a pair of hits in the bottom of the fifth inning in an attempt to start a rally
  • Brandon Kusler hit a two-out double down the left field line, however he was thrown out at home plate on the next at-bat when Karson Hesser singled to left field
  • The Wolves were unable to score any runs on seven hits, and did not commit any errors defensively
  • Max Otto suffered his first loss of the season while getting the start on the mound, he threw six strikeouts in five complete innings and allowed two earned runs off five hits
