Mankato, Minn. – Northern State University opened the NSIC Championships on Friday with two conference champions, four all-conference performances, and nine point scoring marks. The Wolves sit second as a team on the men's side with 31 points, and fifth on the women's side with 15 points. In addition, three Wolves qualified for Saturday's finals sessions, one meet record was broken, and one school record fell.  
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

• The day opened for NSU with Maxwell Geditz, Jackson Willis, and Sean Juengst competing in the heptathlon and sitting in seventh, eighth, and 13^th
• Geditz scored 2,607 points on day one with marks of 7.55 in the 60m, 6.22m in the long jump, 9.86m in the shot put, and 1.96m in the high jump
• Willis tallied 2,551 points with marks of 7.50 in the 60m, 6.51m in the long jump, 9.86m in the shot put, and 1.84m in the high jump
• Juengst recorded 2,316 points with marks of 7.75 in the 60m, 5.61m in the long jump, 10.09m in the shot put, and 1.87m in the high jump
• Joel Matehs just missed qualifying for finals in the 60m hurdles, finishing in ninth with a time of 8.60
• Jackson Harrison ran to an all-conference performance in the 5000m, taking third with a time of 14:35.51
• Glen Quayle won the first conference championship of the day for the Wolves in the pole vault, clearing 4.88m, followed by Sam Tremelling in fourth, clearing 4.68m
• Tanner Berg won the conference championship and broke the meet record in the weight throw, tossing 21.55m on his third attempt of the day

 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

• The distance medley relay team of Mary Franssen, Jennifer Clark, Isabel Kinzer, and Megan Pickering ran to a school record time of 12:29.76 in sixth overall
• Shanice Burrell advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles with the second fastest time of the day, matching her school record of 8.70
• Renea Taylor qualified for finals in the 400m, notching a time of 58.07 in eighth
• Summer Carlson also tallied a qualifying mark in the 600m with a time of 1:38.63 in eighth
• Franssen was the third qualifier of the day for the Wolves, notching the fifth best time in the 1000m of 3:03.53
• Megan Mooberry recorded a sixth place finish in the 5000m with a time of 17:35.31
• Kealy Hill added to her all-conference performances, taking third in the pole vault with a 3.71m mark
• Shona Juliana took seventh in the long jump with a 5.67m mark, scoring two team points
• Cassidy Gough landed on the podium in the weight throwing, tossing 16.08m in eighth overall

 
BEYOND THE RESULTS

• The DMR record was previously set by Traci Scheidt, Julie Baier, Marlene Calmus, and Lenae Reinschmidt with a time of 12:35.74
