Track and Field Takes Home Top Prizes from DWU Snow Tiger Invite

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams won the DWU Snow Tiger Invite on Saturday scoring 124 points on the men's side and 164 points on the women's Northern tallied nine event wins on the day.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sean Juengst won the heptathlon with 4,257 total points, notching marks of 7.79 in the 60m, 5.93m in the long jump, 10.58m in the shot put, 1.90m in the high jump, 9.30 in the 60m hurdles, 3.35m in the pole vault, and 2:56.01 in the 1000m
  • Dylan Schimke finished as the runner-up in the 600m with a time of 1:26.92
  • Joel Matehs and Isaac Ligon crossed the finish line in 8.54 and 9.43 in the 60m hurdles, taking second and third
  • Noah Bayer took home the top spot in the 60m with a time of 7.20
  • Dan Istvanovich ran to a third place finish in the 400m with a time of 54.88
  • Matehs added a second place finish in the 200m, crossing the finish line in 23.11
  • The 4x400m relay team of Schimke, Carter Moller, Eli Radtke, and Caleb Schlekeway ran to a time of 3:40.50 in first place
  • Vance Borchers and Moller took first and second in the high jump, clearing 1.95m and 1.90m respectively
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Summer Carlson and Lyla Devereaux took first and second in the 600m with times of 1:43.06 and 1:45.71
  • Sierra Sweeney took third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.83, while Laci Leverty placed second in the 60m with a time of 8.51
  • Renea Taylor and Vanessa Klein took first and second in the 400m with times of 58.08 and 1:02.69
  • Leverty went on to take second in the 200m, crossing the finish line in 28.10
  • The 4x400m relay team of Sweeney, Carlson, Devereaux, and Klein won the race with a time if 4:18.05
  • The Northern women swept the high jump with Emily Breske jumping 1.62m in first and Jordan Tschumperlin and Kilee Bladow taking second with a 1.57m mark
  • Sweeney added a win in the long jump with a 4.91m mark
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Taylor broke her own school record in the 60m dash prelims with a time of 7.60; the mark ranks her 14th in the nation in the event
 
UP NEXT
Northern State will break for the upcoming holidays and return to action in 2023. The Wolves will host Jamestown for a Dual on Saturday, January 14th.
