Grand Forks, N.D. – Northern State could not keep pace with the high-powered North Dakota offense on Tuesday afternoon, falling by a score of 3-0 at Bronson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • North Dakota struck first in the 16th minute, taking advantage of a corner kick where Julia Briggs connected with Hannah Olson in the box
  • The Fighting Hawks extended their lead in 34th minute, as Olivia Valdivia netted the second goal of the game after she gained control of a pass from Hannah Olson in the box
  • The Wolves best look of the game came early in the second half as Kelsey Selden fired a shot high and towards the center of the net, however Madi Livingston made a leaping save to force a Northern corner kick
  • Northern was able to put some pressure on the North Dakota defense in the second half, putting up four shots, one shot-on-goal, and four corner kicks
  • UND closed out the scoring with a goal in the 79th minute, Bailey McNitt beat the defense down the far side of the field and found Mara Yapello in front of the goal
  • Reigning NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week, Alexus Townsend, was kept busy throughout the game as UND held the advantage in shots 18-5 and shots-on-goal 8-1
NORTHERN STATE STATISTICAL STANDOUTS UP NEXT
The Wolves will have a week and a half to prepare for the start of NSIC competition as they welcome Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston to Aberdeen for games September 17 and 19.
