Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams will open the 3-day NSIC Championships tomorrow in Duluth, Minnesota. Competition will kick-off with the multi-events on Thursday, beginning at 12 p.m. from Malosky Stadium. Events then begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.

• Fans will be permitted at the Championships with facial coverings and social distancing required

  • Tickets will NOT be available for purchase at the door

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

• A total of 37 Wolves will be in competition from the NSIC Championship, with full event listing provided below
• Northern is coming off fourth (men) and fifth (women) place finishes at the NSIC Indoor Championships
• Four student-athletes are currently ranked in the top-25 nationally in their events, with numerous national provisional marks being hit this season
• In addition, five outdoor school records have fallen in 2021

• Tava Berg is ranked 11th in the high jump with a 1.73m (5-08.00) provisional mark
• Jordyn Huneke ranks ninth in the pole vault with an auto qualifying mark of 4.10m (13-05.25)
• Kealy Hill follows Huneke, sitting 21^st in the pole vault, clearing 3.95m (12-11.50)
• Tanner Berg is ranked fourth in the hammer throw with an auto qualifying mark of 68.60m (255-01.00)

 
SCHOOL RECORD WATCH

• Tanner Berg broke his own hammer throw record at the USD Early Bird Meet, throwing 65.83m (215-11.75) and for a second time at Wayne with a 68.60m (225-01.00) toss; his previous record set in 2019 was 61.60m
• Jordyn Huneke broke Alli Arampatzis' pole vault record of 3.90m set in 2011, with a 3.91m (12-10.00) vault at the SD Challenge; she then re-broke the record at the Sioux City Relays, clearing 4.07m (13-04.25) and at the Wildcat Challenge, clearing 4.10m (13-05.25)
• Shona Juliana broke the long jump school record with a 5.64m (18-06.00) at the NSU Open; the record was previously held by Peggy Nordyke with a mark of 5.62m set in 1984
• Tava Berg tallied a school record in the high jump at the Wildcat Challenge with a 1.73m (5-08.00) mark; the record was previously set by Royanne Ross in 1985 with a 1.72m jump
• The team of 4x100m relay team on Isabel Kinzer, Shona Juliana, Makenna Larson, and Shanice Burrell broke record of 47.44, set by Elizabeth Raecke, Toni-Ann Ingram, Madison Barnes, and Hanneke Oosterwegel in 2017, with a time of 47.35
