Softball Takes on Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston This Weekend

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team remains at home this Saturday and Sunday, welcoming Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. each day from the Moccasin Creek Softball Complex.

  • Fan will be permitted into the facility, however interaction with the participating student-athletes and coaches is prohibited

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • The Wolves enter the weekend with a 14-8 record overall and 5-3 mark in the NSIC
  • NSU is hitting .326 with 190 hits, 30 doubles, two triples, 21 homeruns, 104 RBI, and 113 runs scored
  • Kennady Thompson and Makenzie Merritt lead the team hitting .453 and .371 this season with a combined 52 hits, 43 RBI, and 24 runs scored
  • The Wolves staff posts a 3.64 ERA through 138.1 innings pitched with 168 strikeouts and a .273 opponent batting average
  • Elyse Cuttic and Meghan Anderson each have seven wins on the year, with Cuttic notching a team low 3.03 ERA and Anderson grabbing a team leading 91 strikeouts
 
BEMIDJI STATE STORYLINES
  • The Beavers enter the weekend with a 7-15 record overall and 3-5 mark in the NSIC
  • BSU is hitting .233 with 131 hits, 21 doubles, one triple, nine homeruns, 76 RBI, and 83 runs scored this season
  • Lisa Kossan leads the team hitting .333, followed by Emmarie Yeager hitting .326
  • The pitching staff posts a 4.74 ERA through 143.1 innings pitched with 123 strikeouts and a .318 opponent batting average
  • Stephi Dullum leads the staff with a 5-2 record, 2.74 ERA, and 57 strikeouts
  • Bemidji is led by head coach Brittany Gomez-Olson in her first season at the helm and third overall with the program
 
LOOKING BACK TO FEBRUARY 21
  • The Wolves defeated the Beavers 11-5 from the Minot Dome, notching eight runs in the top of the seventh
  • NSU is 38-33 all-time versus BSU
 
MINNESOTA CROOKSTON STORYLINES
  • The Golden Eagles are 5-17 overall and 1-7 in the NSIC
  • Minnesota Crookston is hitting .243 as a team with 139 hits, 30 doubles, six triples, 83 RBI, and 82 runs scored
  • Dana Zarn leads the team hitting .348 with 23 hits, ten runs scored, and nine RBI
  • The Golden Eagles pitching staff posts a 4.75 ERA though 137.0 innings pitched with 106 strikeouts and a .318 opponent batting average
  • Katie Humhej has a 3-6 record, notching a 2.89 ERA and team high 67 strikeouts
  • UMC is led by former Northern State assistant Travis Own in his second season at the helm
