Wolves and Peacocks Set to Battle from Fossum Field

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team continues their home stand this Friday and Saturday versus Upper Iowa. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday. The teams will play a 7-inning and 9-inning game on Friday and a 9-inning game on Saturday.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • The Wolves enter the weekend 9-7 overall and 8-4 in the NSIC
  • Northern is hitting .242 as a team with 111 hits, 29 doubles, five triples, seven homeruns, 60 RBI, and 66 runs scored
  • Reece Ragatz and Justin Hutter lead the team hitting  .375 and .326 respectively
  • Ragatz has a team high 21 hits, six doubles, two homeruns, and 12 runs scored this season
  • Spencer Sarringar leads the team with 13 RBI and two triples thus far
  • The NSU pitching staff posts a 4.66 ERA through 116.0 innings pitched with 127 strikeouts and a .237 opponent batting average
  • Seth Brewer and Zach Hartford lead the team with three wins in 2021, while Brewer leads the starters with a 2.19 ERA
  • Zach Hrvol leads the staff with 32 strikeouts, followed by Brewer with 31
 
UPPER IOWA STORYLINES
  • The Peacocks head to Aberdeen with a 9-10 record overall and 7-7 mark in the league
  • Upper Iowa is hitting .240 as a team with 132 hits, 19 doubles, four triples, four homeruns, 72 RBI,  and 86 runs scored
  • Jake Hilmer leads the team with a .371 average, notching 23 hits, while Alex Greene is has a team high 17 RBI
  • The Peacock staff posts a 4.66 ERA through 146.2 innings pitched with 141 strikeouts and a .249 opponent batting average
  • Duncan Snider leads the starting rotation with a 2.30 ERA, 25 strikeouts, and two wins this season
  • UIU is led by head coach Jeremy Ische in his third season at the helm and fifth season overall with the program
 
LOOKING BACK TO 2019
  • The Wolves took the series versus the Peacocks in 2019, notching 14-6 and 2-1 victories
  • Northern is 14-6 all-time versus Upper Iowa University
