Wolves Baseball Defeats Sioux Falls in Midweek Action

Box Score Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team faced off against the University of Sioux Falls on a gloomy day from Fossum Field. The Wolves took game one, before the night cap was canceled due to weather in the top of the fifth. Prior to the cancellation, the team's were tied at 7-all.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sioux Falls took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning
  • Northern quickly answered back scoring one run apiece in the bottom of the third and fourth innings
  • Reece Ragatz scored Austin Portner (double) on a double to right in the third and Karson Hesser homered to right in the fourth
  • The Wolves took the lead in the bottom of the fifth, notching five runs on four hits
  • Scoring for NSU in the fifth were Spencer Sarringar (reached on an error), Ragatz (walk), Ramon Vega Jr. (double to left), Hesser (fielders choice), and Alex Gauer (homerun)
  • Northern recorded their seven runs on ten hits without giving up an error in the field
  • Brian Baker started for NSU throwing four complete, giving up three earned runs on five hits with one strikeout
  • Zach Hartford entered in relief, tossing his third win of the season with five strikeouts in three shutout innings
