Berg, Cuttic Named Army National Guard Athletes of the Week

Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State's Tanner Berg (men's track and field) and Elyse Cuttic (softball) have been named the NSU Athletes of the Week for their athletic efforts last week. The NSU Athletes of the Week award is sponsored by the South Dakota Army National Guard.
 
Berg competed at the USD Early Bird Meet in the shot put and hammer throw. He took third and second in the shot put and hammer throw. Berg threw a national provisional mark of 16.95m (55-07.50) in the shot. He then broke his own school record in the hammer, throwing a provisional mark of 65.83m (215-11.75). Currently the Watertown native ranks 20th nationally in the shot put and third in the hammer.
 
Cuttic threw Northern State's three wins over MSU Moorhead, Upper Iowa, and No. 13 Winona State. She notched a 2.83 ERA on the week. The graduate student tallied 20 strikeouts in 17.1 innings of work. In addition, Cuttic shut out Upper Iowa and recorded a .264 opponent batting average, with a season high 12 strikeouts. Offensively she hit .333 with four RBI and four runs scored, hitting a weekend best 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI in the Wolves win over UIU.
