Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State's Shona Juliana (women's track and field) and Ben Carolin (baseball) have been named the NSU Athletes of the Week for their athletic efforts last week. The NSU Athletes of the Week award is sponsored by the South Dakota Army National Guard.
 
Juliana broke the Northern State school record in the long jump with a 5.68m (18-06.00) mark at the NSU Open. She finished third overall, as the top Division II placer. The freshman added a third place finish in the triple jump (11.38m) and was a member of the winning 4x100m relay with a time of 48.83.
 
Carolin led Northern State hitting .471 versus Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State. He totaled eight hits, including two homeruns and one double. The senior recorded seven RBI and five runs scored with an .882 slugging percentage. He notched a grand slam on Saturday and hit a week best 3-for-4 on Sunday. Carolin added seven putouts defensively without an error.
