Wayne, Neb. – After falling in game one, the Northern State University softball team bounced back on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves defeated Wayne State in the nightcap, notching their 22
nd win of the season.

Game 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wayne State scored first with a big second inning, notching five runs
- The Wolves added one in the third on a homerun to left by Rachel Reinke and plated three in the fourth
- Scoring for Northern is the fourth was Elly Smith, Shelby Novotny, and Emma Terveer
- The Wildcats also added one run in the third on a homerun to left
- Meghan Anderson suffered her eighth loss of the season, giving up six earned runs in 2.1 innings of work
- Andrea Cherney and Elyse Cuttic entered in relief, throwing a combined 3.2 scoreless innings
- NSU tallied four runs on eight hits, leaving nine runners on base in the game

Game 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wolves tallied ten runs on 14 hits in game two, giving up two errors on defense
- Makenzie Merritt kicked off the scoring in the second, belting her eight homerun of the season with left center
- Merritt scored again in the third on a triple by Chanel Siebenthal; which also plated Kennady Thompson
- Northern added three more runs in the fourth from Emily Charchuk, Merritt, and Jessi Hernandez
- Wayne State answered back with three runs of their own in the top of the fifth, however the Wolves were not done
- Shelby Novotny scored Merritt on a single to center and Claire Zyblut scored Katie Palmer on an RBI groundout in the sixth
- Ashley Fauske tallied the team's final run of the game in the seventh on an error by the Wildcat shortstop
- Elyse Cuttic earned the win, throwing 6.0 complete innings with nine hits, three runs (one earned), and two strikeouts
- Meghan Anderson entered in relief, tossing a scoreless seventh inning
