Softball Travels to Upper Iowa and #13 Winona State

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team is set to face Upper Iowa and No. 13 Winona State on the road this weekend. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on Friday versus the Peacocks and 1 p.m. on Saturday against the Warriors.
 
GAME & FAN INFORMATION
  • WSU Fan Policy
    • Only fans listed on the WSU pass list will be allowed in the grandstand and outfield
    • There is space outside of the field, on the first base side, for visiting fans to view the game, and will not require them to be on the WSU pass list
    • Fans in the grandstand and outfield seating areas are REQUIRED to wear a mask at all times
  • UIU Fan Policy
    • UIU Athletics will not restrict fan attendance for the games at Eischeid Softball Complex
    • Spectators will not be allowed on the field of play, on the team sidelines, or in the team dugouts any time before, during, or following competitions
    • Fans will be asked to follow the guidelines set by Upper Iowa Athletics, and these can be found on UIUPeacocks.com

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • The Wolves are 10-6 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC
  • Northern is hitting .297 on the year, notching 121 hits, 21 doubles, one triple, 16 homeruns, 63 RBI, and 67 runs scored
  • Kennady Thompson leads the team with a .396 average, including 19 hits, two homeruns, and ten RBI
  • Makenzie Merritt is second on the team hitting .326 and leads the Wolves with 15 RBI and five homeruns
  • The NSU pitching staff posts a 3.43 ERA through 102.0 innings pitched with 130 strikeouts and a .260 opponent batting average
  • Meghan Anderson is 6-3 on the year with a 2.81 ERA and 72 strikeouts
 
UPPER IOWA STORYLINES
  • The Peacocks enter the weekend with a 4-11 record overall and 0-2 mark in the NSIC
  • Upper Iowa is hitting .251 on the year with 94 hits, 17 doubles, one triple, eight homeruns, 41 RBI, and 46 runs scored
  • Kaylee Frenette leads the team hitting .348 with 16 hits and eight runs scored
  • The Peacock pitching staff holds a 5.04 ERA through 93.0 innings pitched with 74 strikeouts and a .335 opponent batting average
  • Abby McKay is 3-4 on the year, throwing a team high 47.0 innings with 54 strikeouts
  • UIU is led by head coach Ashley Hickman in her second season at the helm
 
LOOKING BACK TO 2019
  • Northern and Upper Iowa split in 2019, with the Peacocks notching a 4-1 victory in game one and the Wolves recording a 4-3 victory in game two

WINONA STATE STORYLINES
  • The Warriors enter the weekend 13-2 overall and 2-0 in the NSIC, ranked No. 13 in the most recent NFCA Top-25 Poll
