Northern State Welcomes UMary and Southwest to the Presentation Dome

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University softball will match-up against the University of Mary and Southwest Minnesota State this Saturday and Sunday from the Presentation College Dome. First pitch is set for 2 and 4 p.m. on Saturday versus the Marauders and 1 and 3 p.m. on Sunday against the Mustangs.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • The Wolves enter the weekend with a 6-4 record overall and set to play their first games from Aberdeen
  • Northern is hitting .305 as a unit with 79 hits, including 14 doubles, 12 homeruns, and one triple
  • They have 44 runs scored, 42 RBI, nine stolen bases, and a .506 team slugging percentage
  • Elyse Cuttic and Kennady Thompson lead the team hitting .419 and .400 respectively this season, each with a pair of homeruns
  • Makenzie Merritt is slugging a team best 1.000 this season with four homeruns, two doubles, a triple, and a team leading 11 RBI
  • The Wolves pitching staff posts a 3.39 ERA through 64.0 innings pitched with 84 strikeouts and a .250 opponent batting average
  • Meghan Anderson leads the staff with a 4-2 record and 44 strikeouts through eight appearances
 
UNIVERSITY OF MARY STORYLINES
  • The Marauders travel to Aberdeen with a 1-6 record on the year; their lone win coming against the University of Central Missouri

  • They add 20 runs scored and 16  RBI through their first seven games
  • Mariah Sanchez and Eryn de Jonge lead the team hitting .385 and .333 this season, notching a combined 17 hits
  • The Marauder pitching staff posts a 5.86 ERA through 43.0 innings pitched with 31 strikeouts and a .303 opponent batting average
  • Alissa Alvarado threw the team's lone win and has a team best 4.20 ERA and 12 strikeouts
  • UMary is led by head coach Steph Roan in her first season at the helm
 
SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE STORYLINES
  • The Mustangs enter the weekend with a 6-2 record on the year
  • SMSU is hitting .348 as a unit with 79 hits, including 18 doubles, six triples, and three homeruns
  • They have 51 runs scored and 47 RBI this season, slugging .520 as a team
  • Lileya Kebos leads the team with a .538 average, notching 14 hits, six doubles, and three triples
  • Emma Grote and Bailey Johnson are both above .400 on the year, hitting .467 and .429 respectively
  • The Southwest staff posts a 4.23 ERA in the circle, led by Megan Cull with a 1.91 ERA and four wins
  • Cull has a .194 opponent batting average through 18.1 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts
  • The Mustangs are led by head coach Bailey Bouman in her third season at the helm
 
LOOKING BACK TO 2020
  • The Wolves and Marauders matched up two weekends ago, with Northern State notching a 2-0 victory from the Minot Dome
  • Northern State and Southwest Minnesota State did not face off in 2020, however the Wolves swept the Mustangs 5-4 and 4-0 in 2019
