Birmingham, Ala. – Northern State University school record holder Tanner Berg finished third in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships earlier this afternoon. The Watertown, S.D. native tallied All-American honors, the third of his career.
 
Berg advanced to finals with a 21.44m (70-04.25) mark on his first toss of the meet. He fouled his first finals attempt and threw back-to-back marks of 21.56m (70-09.00) and 21.68m (71-01.50), placing him third overall.
 
The national champion out of Findlay, Sterling Mungro threw 22.45m (73-08.00).  
 
Berg will return to action tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the shot put.  Tava Berg will compete at 4:30 p.m. in the high jump, while Jordyn Huneke will debut at 6:15 pm in the pole vault.
