Tanner Berg finished third in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships earlier this afternoon. The Watertown, S.D. native tallied All-American honors, the third of his career.
Berg advanced to finals with a 21.44m (70-04.25) mark on his first toss of the meet. He fouled his first finals attempt and threw back-to-back marks of 21.56m (70-09.00) and 21.68m (71-01.50), placing him third overall.
The national champion out of Findlay, Sterling Mungro threw 22.45m (73-08.00).
Berg will return to action tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the shot put. Tava Berg will compete at 4:30 p.m. in the high jump, while Jordyn Huneke will debut at 6:15 pm in the pole vault.
