MOORHEAD, MN. – The Northern State University wrestling team traveled to MSU Moorhead where they battled against 13 teams in the Dragon Open this past weekend. The Wolves finished third overall in the open with 272 combined team points.

Northern finished the day tied for second in total team pins with ten

Marcus Placide finished second overall in most team points with 22.5, only a half-point behind the leader
George Bolling and
Adam DeBoer recorded the fastest pins for the team with times of 1:05 and 1:08, respectively, which was fast enough for ninth and tenth fastest overall

Landen Fischer and
Brenden Salfrank finished second and third in the 125-pound weight class in the red bracket
    » DeBoer took home a fifth place finish in the 149-pound weight class in the red bracket
    » Also in the red bracket,
Izaak Hunsley notched a third place finish at 157-pounds
    »
Chase Bloomquist took home another top-5 finish for the Wolves, finishing fourth at 165-pounds in the red bracket

Treyton Cacek finished sixth overall at 184-pounds

Cole Huss finished first and sixth overall at 197-pounds

Josh Trumble and
Ali'i Loyola finished fifth and sixth overall for the Wolves at 285-pounds
    » The Wolves had four top-5 finishes in the white bracket as well, with
Tyler Voorhees finishing fourth at 165-pounds,
Tyson Lien finish second at 184-pounds, while
Nathan Schauer and Bolling finished first and second at 285-pounds, respectively

Northern will return home this week with another NSIC matchup against the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University. The Wolves will be hosting Youth Night. The dual is set to kickoff at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 10.
