Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State's Brennan Kutterer (football) and Peyton Ellingson (volleyball) have been named as the South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week for their athletic efforts last week.
 
Kutterer led the Northern State defense with 16 tackles in their 33-27 victory over MSU Moorhead. He recorded 11 solo stops and five assisted tackles, as well as a pass break-up. He also tallied 2.5 tackles for a loss of five yards, bringing his season total to 9.5. Kutterer moved into the team lead for total tackles this season, and he sits top-10 in the NSIC in total tackles and tackles for a loss.
 
Ellingson hit .833 with 20 kills in the Wolves back-to-back sweeps of MSU Moorhead and Minot State. She did not have a hitting error in the two matches and averaged 3.33 kills per set. She also added seven digs, five blocks, and two aces. Ellingson jumped to second in the NSIC in attack percentage versus league opponents, hitting .436 in 2021.
