HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Northern State controlled the early minutes of the game, the offense was able to put up three early shots and the defense did not allow St. Cloud State to cross midfield until a shot in the tenth minute
  • St. Cloud State took advantage of an early Northern miscue, as a handball resulted in a penalty kick and goal for Hannah Barjesteh in the 14th minute of play
  • Less than a minute later Claire Shea was able to cut through multiple defenders and net a goal into the bottom right corner of the net to put the Huskies up 2-0 only 15 minutes into the game
  • Alexus Townsend made a great save in the 17th minute to keep the score at 2-0, knocking the ball down to herself for the save after Shea sent another shot into the top left corner of the net
  • Zoe Boughton would make another key defensive play for the Wolves in the 44th minute, deflecting a pass that would have led to a shot opportunity for SCSU
  • Attempting to spark a comeback in the second half, the Wolves saw their best scoring opportunities in the 70th minute as Paige Hutton sent a high pass into the box that was deflected out of play for a corner kick
  • Off the corner kick Hutton gained control of the ball after it was knocked out of the air; she sent a shot toward the bottom right corner of the net, but Evie Kohn was able to make the diving save
  • The Wolves out-shot the Huskies 14-6, however SCSU held the slight advantage in shots-on-goal 6-5 and corner kicks 5-4
  • The six shot attempts for St. Cloud State tied their season low, the Huskies came into the match averaging 19.64 shot attempts in conference matches
