Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State women's soccer team defeated Winona State 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The victory extends Northern's win streak to three and bumps the Wolves up to sixth in the NSIC standings with three games remaining.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first scoring opportunity of the game for Northern State came in the 19th minute of play when Kelsey Selden fired a shot towards the right side of the goal, the shot was knocked out of play on a diving save attempt by Alyson Jumper leading to a corner kick
- The next opportunity for the Wolves came when Lilja Davidsdottir gained control of the ball off a corner kick in the 72nd minute, however her shot was deflected by a host of Winona State defenders and their goalkeeper
- Northern attempted to take advantage of a Winona State foul just a few feet outside the box in the 82nd minute, the shot by Teya Trujillo made it past the wall of Warrior defenders but was stopped on a diving save by Alyson Jumper
- Megan Fastenau scored the game winning goal in the 98th minute off an assist from Kelsey Selden
- The Wolves controlled the offensive attack throughout the match with a 12-10 advantage in shots, 6-5 in shots-on-goal, and 9-2 in corner kick attempts
