Defense Leads Northern State to Shutout Victory Over SMSU

Marshall, Minn. – The Northern State women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday afternoon. The Wolves defense led the way recording their third consecutive shutout, the longest such streak for the program since 2016.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Northern State's first goal of the game came in the 23rd minute of play, as Megan Fastenau gained control of the deflection from the SMSU goalkeeper and fired a shot into the back left corner of the open net
  • It took less than two minutes for the Wolves to tack on their second goal of the match, in the 24th minute a corner kick by Mia Zagorski led to a header bouncing into the net by Isabela Polanco Garcia
