Wolves Battle to Second Consecutive Draw

Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Northern State women's soccer team and the University of Sioux Falls played to a 0-0 draw on Friday night, marking the second consecutive scoreless tie for the Wolves. The shutout by Northern's defense marked their third in NSIC action, and fourth on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first scoring opportunity of the game for Northern State came in the 25th minute of play when Megan Fastenau created a breakaway opportunity, but her shot attempt was pushed right of the goal
  • The NSU and USF offenses were limited to only one shot attempt each in the first half
  • Sioux Falls created two scoring opportunities late in the second period; in the 87th minute Alexus Townsend jumped on a loose ball in the box right before a USF player could make a play on it followed by a USF shot ricocheting off the top crossbar back into play in the 89th minute
  • In the 106th minute, Northern forced a diving save by the USF goalkeeper as Zoe Boughton gained control of a free kick from Lilja Davidsdottir and fired a shot towards the bottom center of the net

Northern State ends their stretch of four consecutive road matches at Southwest Minnesota State at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. The Wolves will return to Aberdeen next weekend with matches against Upper Iowa on Friday night and Winona State on Sunday afternoon.
