Jordyn Huneke (women's track and field) and
Tanner Berg (men's track and field) have been named the NSU Athletes of the Week for their athletic efforts at the UMary Marauder Open this past weekend. The NSU Athletes of the Week award is sponsored by the South Dakota Army National Guard.
Huneke tallied her second straight pole vault victory of the season. She opened the year, vaulting out on the auto qualifying standard of 4.06m. The sophomore won the Marauder Open, clearing 3.67m. She currently ranks third in the nation in the event, with a provisional qualifying mark. Huneke was also named the female USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week last week.
Berg improved his weight throw mark at the Marauder Open, throwing an NCAA auto qualifying mark of 21.28m. The junior threw two auto-qualifying marks in his series at UMary. He won the event and tallied his second victory in the shot put, throwing 15.98m. Berg currently ranks first in the nation in the weight throw and 14th in the shot put. He was also named the male USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week last week.
