Two Join Northern State Men’s Track and Field

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University head coach Lynne Dingman announced today the addition of Ethan Barnett (Chino Hills, Calif.) and Targen Gensee (Fargo, N.D.) to the 2020-21 track and field roster. Barnett and Gensee bring the 2020-21 recruiting class to 25 student-athletes.

Ethan Barnett is a thrower out of Chino Hills High School. He was a 3-year letter winner for the Huskies. Barnett holds the Chino Hills shot put school record with a 50'11" mark. He was named the team's most improved thrower in 2018 and most valuable thrower in 2019. Barnett will also join the Northern State football program as a punter. He is the son of Shawn and Alicia Barnett.

"We are thrilled to add Ethan Barnett to our national caliber throwing crew! Ethan is a strong athlete who will try the hammer and weight throw this year. Both of Ethan's parents competed in Track & Field for the Wolves, we are excited to see him carry on that tradition!"

Targen GenseeTargen Gensee • Fargo, N.D. • Fargo South HS
Targen Gensee is a sprinter out of Fargo South High School. He was a 2-time state place winner in 2018, taking second in the 200m dash (22.53) and third in the 100m dash (11.25). In addition, Gensee is a North Dakota State Champion in both the 4x100m and 4x200m relays. His 4x100m squad holds the state record of 42.25 in the event. He is the son of Mentu Wahkor.

"Targen is a dynamic sprinter out of Fargo, ND. He had a storied career at Fargo South and still holds the state record in the 4X100 relay. We are excited to see him battle it out with the top NSIC sprinters."
