Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University and the Wolves Athletic Department hosted a successful celebration of progress for the Regional Sports Complex on Thursday afternoon. The event, which took place in the parking lot just west of the Dacotah Bank Stadium construction site, gave attendees a look into the current state of affairs with the project.
"We're excited that construction on Northern's Regional Sports Complex is underway and remains on track for fall 2021," explained Dr. Tim Downs, NSU President. "I'd like to thank our donors, stakeholders and the community for their help and generosity, which has led to fundraising more than $120 million and several new facilities in less than five years. This on-campus sports complex will be a difference-maker, not only for our football and softball student-athletes, but for all Northern students, our campus and the entire region. Go Wolves!"
Video from the event can be found at the link above. In addition to speakers from the Northern and Aberdeen communities, the Dacotah Bank Stadium model was on display and individuals were asked to sign a construction beam which will be displayed in the facility upon completion.
About the Regional Sports Complex
The multi-purpose Regional Sports complex will serve as a hub of activity for campus and community events and provide additional educational opportunities for multiple organizations. The Complex will be highlighted by a transformational stadium that has long been considered the "missing piece" of NSU's campus. The Complex will be home to NSU football, softball, intramurals and club sports, health and physical education classes, community events, regional high school events, youth camps and clinics, the Marching Wolves, concerts and other various events throughout the year. Dacotah Bank Stadium and Koehler Hall of Fame Field are projected to be completed by fall 2021.
