Sanford Health has recommended that each participant be screened daily upon arrival to the respective facility. Screening will be done by infrared thermometer by instructors/staff. Participants will be asked the following 2 questions upon registration: Have you been diagnosed with COVID-19, and have you been in close contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? All lesson materials will encourage staff, participants, and their families about when they should
stay home and when they can return to lessons. Each registration form will include the following language:
- IF you are sick or have recently had a close contact with a person with COVID-19 please stay home.
- Staff members, campers and their families will be required to stay home if they have tested positive for or are showing COVID-19 symptoms.
If a participant answers yes to the questions above and/or fails the temperature screen, they will be asked to leave and will not be allowed to participate in lessons. The participant will be provided with a refund, prorated based upon number of days/sessions participated. All parents/guardians will be required to sign a waiver prior to the start of lessons acknowledging risk of COVID-19 in any public place and agree to not hold NSU/SDBOR/State of South Dakota liable for any illness or injury.
Masks
- Instructors will be required to wear a mask at all times. Cloth face coverings are meant to protect other people in case the wearer is unknowingly infected but does not have symptoms. Parents/guardians should wear masks at any time they are in the respective facility, this will ensure for a safe environment and to ensure a smooth drop-off and pick-up process.
- The South Dakota Board of Regents has adopted a Face Covering Protocol mandating the use of masks at Northern State University and the other five public universities. The protocol, which applies to all students, staff, faculty and campus visitors, requires individuals to wear masks in all public indoor spaces on campus beginning July 28, 2020.
