Wolves Baseball Begins the 2020 Season at U.S. Bank Stadium

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State baseball kicks off their 2020 season at US Bank Stadium as they face the Huskies in a doubleheader. First pitch will be thrown at 10 a.m. with game two following for a 12 p.m. anticipated start time.
 
ABOUT THE WOLVES
  • NSU baseball finished last season 26-25 overall, 20-16 in NSIC play, 3-1 at home, 9-9 on the road and 14-15 at neutral venues
  • The Wolves were picked seventh in the NSIC Preseason poll after finishing seventh just a year ago
  • Northern returns 15 from 2020, including starters Hayden Houts, Isaiah Chevalier, Zach Hrvol, and Grant Farmer
  • Hayden Houts has been tabbed with NSIC player to watch for NSU, last year he posted a .346 batting average with 55 hits, ten doubles, five homeruns, 39 RBI's with a .528 slugging percentage
  • Cody Curfman was named NSIC pitcher to watch for NSU, just a season ago Curfman posted a 4-4 record on 62.2 innings pitched, he recorded 57 strikeouts and led the conference last year in struck out looking with 21
 
ABOUT THE HUSKIES
  • St. Cloud State enters U.S. Bank Stadium on Tuesday with a 3-1 overall record and 3-0 at neutral sights this year
  • The Huskies went 3-1 at the 2020 MIAA/GLVAC Crossover games, defeating Washburn University, Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Western State
  • SCSU is batting .205 to start the season with a OPS of .591
  • John Nett leads the team with a batting average of .467 and an OPS of 1.129; he also leads the team in slugging percentage at .600
  • The Huskies are led by skipper Pat Dolan in his 13th season
 
Last Meeting
  • Northern west 2-1 versus St. Cloud State a season ago with game scores of 2-0, 4-3 and 0-6
  • John Werner and Zach Hrvol both recorded wins in the series 
  • Returner Houts was 7-of-12 in the series
  • NSU is 9-37 all-time against SCSU dating back to 1979 when the Wolves fell 7-0 in the inaugural meeting
