Northern State Swimming Places Second in Florida

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State swimming finished their Florida training trip on Tuesday placing second behind Tufts University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • NSU recorded 16 top-16 finishes on the day
  • In the 400 free Hannah Kiernan placed eighth with a time on five minutes and 1.88 seconds, Delaney Ryken rounded out the top-10 with a time of 5:04.97
  • Megan Pattee placed 11th in the 400 free with a time of 5:18.84
  • Connor Doran got things done for the Wolves in the 100 free placing second with a time of 1:03.61 only .32 second behind Mary Hufziger of Turts University
  • Marialuisa Avila placed fifth in the 100 free touching the boards at 1:04.95
  • Ryken and Melani Mercer finished ninth and tenth at 1:07.96 and 1:07.99 respectively
  • Kiernan placed ninth in the 200 IM in 2:47.62
  • 50 fly was another big race for NSU as Avila finished second with a time of 30.69 just behind Sasha Fong of Turts University who finished in 30.13
  • Georgy Turner and Lexi Malimanek placed seventh and tenth in the 50 back with times of 35.58 and 36.80
  • In the 50 free Doran placed fifth with a time of 29.62
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Avila placed second in the 50 fly and fifth in the 100 free
  • Doran placed second in the 100 free and fifth in the 50 free
 
 
UP NEXT
Northern State will face Sioux Falls at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday the 11th in Sioux falls, before heading to the MSUM Dragon Invite on the 17th.
