Northern State Faces Black Hills in 2020 Season Opener

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team opens the 2020 season this weekend from the Presentation College Dome. The Wolves will face off against Black Hills State at 3 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 12 and 2 p.m. on Sunday in a pair of doubleheaders.

  • Northern opens the year after being picked ninth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll
  • Kennady Thompson and Meghan Anderson were picked as the team's player and pitcher to watch in the NSIC
  • NSU returns 15 from a season ago, while welcome nine incoming freshman and transfers
  • Seven starters will return to the diamond for the Wolves
  • The Wolves went 18-34 overall a season ago in their second year under the direction of head coach Jenny Fuller

  • Black Hills State will also open the season in Aberdeen, after going 13-28 overall in 2019

  • The BHSU roster is made up of seven incoming freshman and 17 returners
