Northern Swimming unable to take down #11 Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls, S.D. – Northern State swimming unable to take down No. 11 Sioux Falls Saturday afternoon in Sioux Falls.
 
 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Northern tallied 13 top-3 finishes against Sioux Falls with seven top-2 finishes on the afternoon
  • The Wolves got things started with the 400 medley relay where team A finished in a time of four minutes and 16.08 seconds composed of Hannah Kiernan, Marialuisa Avila, Delaney Grier, and Megan Pattee
  • 1,000 free NSU finished three, four and five; Delaney Ryken finished in 11:27.69, Jordan Metz finished with a time of 12:19.72 and Kristen Colingwood touched the board in 12:21.56
  • In the 400 IM, the Wolves swam for first and second as Kiernan finished first in 4:55.73 followed by Lexi Malimanek in 5:05.41
  • Josie Gillund and Doran would swim the 100 free placings second and third with times of 56.46 and 59.03 respectively
  • Kiernan placed second for NSU in the 200 back with a time of 2:14.94
  • Ryken and Grier would go two and three in the 500 free with times of 5:39.02 and 6:01.09
  • In the 200 free relays Northern's composed of Doran, Mercer, Ryken, and Gillund swam for second with a time of 1:45.14
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Kiernan's first-place finish in the 400 IM was the only first-place finish on the afternoon
  • Ryken placed third in the 1,000 and second in the 500
  • Grier on the night placed third in the 500 and second in the 200 breast
 
 
UP NEXT
Northern State will head north next weekend for the MSUM Dragon Invite. The invitation starts at 6 p.m. on Friday.
