Football Continues North Division Play at Minot State

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University football team heads to Minot State this Saturday for their second NSIC North Division match-up of 2019. The Wolves will kick-off against the Beavers at 1 p.m. from Herb Parker Stadium.
 
QUICK HITS ON THE NORTHERN STATE WOLVES
                • Northern opened the 2019 season returning eight starters on offense and five on defense, with 31 total returning on offense and 40 on defense; including all-conference performers Streit, Larson, Trautman, and Fahrman.
                • In addition, NSU welcomes 46 newcomers including a handful of freshman that have the potential to see some playing time in their true freshman campaigns.
                • The Wolves were picked tenth overall in the league and fifth in the NSIC North Division in the 2019 edition of the preseason coaches' poll
                • The Northern State Wolves opened the 2019 campaign at home with a 33-7 loss to Bemidji State
                • NSU tallied 18 first downs, 111.0 yards rushing, 181.0 yards passing, and 292.0 yards of total offense in the match-up with the Beavers
                • The Wolves averaged a game high 3.4 yards per rush and 7.2 yards per completion
                • Hunter Trautman threw for 167 yards with a 30-yard long, but suffered three sacks and three interceptions in the game
                • Isaiah Cherrier led the backs with 59 yards rushing, including a 37-yard long, and the team's only touchdown of the evening
                • Dakota Larson and Boston Bauer led the receivers with 48 and 45 yards receiving respectively
                • Bauer was also the leading returner for NSU with 92 total kick-off and punt return yards
                • Brayden McNeary led the Wolves defense with seven tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery
                • Isaiah Nolan blocked one of the Bemidji State point after attempts and forced a fumble in the game
 
MATCHING UP WITH THE BEAVERS
                • Minot State opened the 2019 season picked 15th overall in the league and seventh in the NSIC North Division.
                • Wide receiver Lavante Bushnell and defensive lineman Jordan Will were tabbed as the team's players to watch in the NSIC
                • Minot enters the weekend following a 52-7 loss to Minnesota Duluth in the 2019 opener
                • The Beavers tallied 118.0 yards rushing, 43.0 yards passing, and 161.0 yards of total offense with 11 first downs
                • Defensively they gave up 248.0 yards rushing, 304.0 yards passing, and 552.0 yards of total offense to the Bulldogs
                • Bushnell led the receivers with 28 yards, while Derek Wax led the defense with seven tackles and one tackles for a loss last week
                • Cory Carignan recorded the lone touchdown for MSU, a 100-yard kick-off return late in the first quarter
                • Minot State is led by head coach Mike Aldrich in his third season at the helm

                • The Wolves defeated the Beavers 42-16 in 2018, recording 515 yards of total offense and six touchdowns
                • Jacob Streit is the lone returner who scored in the contest, notching a 13-yard reception from Hunter Trautman in the first
                • Preston Droessler and Jacob Rader led the returners on defense with four tackles apiece, including one tackle for a total loss of three yards by Rader
