Aberdeen, S.D.  – The Northern State University softball team dropped their final two home games of the 2019 season to St. Cloud State on Wednesday afternoon.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The two teams were scoreless through the first two innings, however St. Cloud State broke through with a solo home run in the top of the third
• The Huskies added two more runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings, while holding the Wolves scoreless to secure the victory
• Northern tallied five hits, but suffered four errors defensively
• Jamie Fisher suffered the loss, giving up five runs, three earned, on seven hits with two strikeouts

GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED

• For the second straight game, St. Cloud State scored first in the top of the third, notching five runs on four hits
• The Huskies shut the Wolves out through the first five innings, however Kennady Thompson and Courtney Sjerven teamed up to put the Wolves on the board
• Sjerven reached base on a fielder's choice and came around to score on Thompson's 11^th home run of the season, a 2-run shot to left field
• Northern was unable to mount a comeback, as St. Cloud tallied two more runs in the top of the seventh
• Andrea Cherney suffered the loss giving up four runs, two earned, on five hits in just 2.1 innings of work
• NSU tallied two runs scored on six hits with two errors defensively

• Kennady Thompson: 2-for-3, 1 run, 2 RBI, home run
• Rachel Reinke: 2-for-3

 
UP NEXT
