Aberdeen, S.D. – A run rule victory opened the day for the Northern State University softball team from Manor Park, before the Wolves fell in game two.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wayne State jumped out to an early lead, notching four runs in the first plate appearances of the day
- The Wildcats held the Wolves scoreless through the first two frames, however Northern broke things open in the third with six runs on six hits
- Scoring in the sixth for NSU were Courtney Sjerven (reached on a bunt single), Anne Jonas (running for Kennady Thompson who singled to left), Emma Terveer (running for Jen Martin who walked), Shayla Steinley (running for Jamie Fisher who walked), Julia Sullwold (running for Lauryn Bos who singled through the left side), and Madison Rutter (hit-by-pitch)
- Northern tacked on one run in the following inning, on a sacrifice fly by Rutter scoring Fisher
- The Wolves plated four more runs in the fifth on a 2-run home run by Thompson and 2-run double by Rutter
- Wayne State tallied one run in the top of the sixth, however were not able to overcome the 7-run deficit
- Courtney Sjerven extended the NSU Lead with a home run to center in the sixth, and Cassidy Schaar hit the decisive game ending infield single scoring Anne Jonas
- The Wolves tallied 13 runs on a season high 19 hits, including four extra base knocks with three errors
- Jamie Fisher tallied the win in the circle throwing all six innings, giving up four earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts

GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jamie Fisher singled through the right side, scoring Rachel Reinke who led off the game with an infield single for the Wolves first and what would be their only run of the game
- Wayne State was scoreless through the fourth, however a big fifth inning led the Wildcats to victory as they tallied seven runs on seven hits
- WSC added another two runs in the seventh, while recording six shutout innings on defense without giving up an error
- The Wolves tallied one run on eight hits with one error on defense
- Andrea Cherney suffered the loss giving up three earned runs in 4.1 innings of work
