Northern drops two games to No. 17 Augustana

Aberdeen, S.D.  – The Northern State University softball team dropped a pair of games to No. 17 Augustana University on Friday from Manor Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Augustana shut-out Northern in six innings of play, notching one run in the first, two in the second, one in the third, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth
  • The Wolves tallied three hits and did not give up an error defensively
  • Jamie Fisher suffered her 13th loss of the season

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Augustana took a 5-0 lead in their first three at-bats, before the Wolves notched their first and only runs of the game in the bottom of the third
  • Rachel Reinke led off the third for NSU with a walk, and came around to score the following at-bat, as Courtney Sjerven doubled to left center
  • Sjerven then came around to score on Cassidy Schaar's groundout to the shortstop
  • Augustana answered in the fourth with three more runs, before sealing the game with three more runs in the top of the sixth
  • Northern tallied two runs on two hits with four errors
  • Makenzie Merritt suffered her fourth loss of the season in the game
