Aberdeen, S.D. – Despite an April blizzard through the state of South Dakota, the Northern State University outdoor track and field season is well underway. The Wolves will head to teh UNK Loper Invite with competition kicking off at 12 p.m. on Sunday from Kearney.
 
QUICK HITS ON THE NSU WOMEN

• The Wolves competed from the Dordt Invite last Saturday, recording three event victories and 15 top-5 finishes
• The 4x100m relay team of Dakota Hutzler, Hanneke Oosterwegel, Shanice Burrell, and Emma Rezac finish in 48.88 in second place
• Shanice Burrell won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.42
• Hanneke Oosterwegel won the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02:46
• Kealy Hill won her first outdoor meet of the season, clearing 3.35m in the pole vault
• Top-5 finishers included Shanice Burrell (100m), Madison Barnes (200m, 400m), Emma Rezac (400m, 200m), Mackenzie Cruzen (400m), Hanneke Oosterwegel (100m hurdles), Isabel Kinzer (400m hurdles), Tava Berg (high jump), Sonia Alaman (high jump), Dakota Hutzler (long jump), and Jordan Menken (shot put)

 
QUICK HITS ON THE NSU MEN

• The Wolves competed from the Central College Dutch Invite and Dordt Invite last Friday and Saturday
• TJ Hochstetler and Bryce Malsam led the Wolves to a seventh place finish at the Dutch Invite earning 16 team points in the decathlon
• Northern tallied five event victories and 11 top-5 finished from the two meets
• TJ Hochstetler won the Dutch Invite decathlon with a personal best of 6,323 points
• Itoitz Rodriguez won the 400m from the Dordt invite with a time of 48.49
• Tanner Berg won the shot put and hammer throw with personal bests and NCAA provisional marks in each event, throwing 16.34m in the shot and a school record 61.60m in the hammer
• Jacob Wiedrich won the pole vault, clearing 4.35m
• Top-5 finishers included Bryce Malsam (decathlon), Isaiha Fletcher (400m), Jacob Lackas (110m hurdles), Trey Tiefenthaler (long jump, triple jump), Austin Eppard (discus), and Jake Olson (discus)

 
WOLVES IN THE TOP-40 NATIONALLY

• Bryce Malsam ranks 31^st in the high jump at 2.03m
• Tanner Berg sits 40^th in the shot put (16.34m) and ninth in the hammer throw (61.60m)
• TJ Hochstetler ranks 21^st in the decathlon with 6323 points
• Shanice Burrell sits 31^st in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.42
• Hanneke Oosterwegel is 34^th in the 100m hurdles (14.46) and 25^th in the 400m hurdles (1:02.33)
