Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University wrestling team heads to Mitchell tomorrow morning for their second open tournament of the 2019-20 season. The Wolves will compete against wrestlers from 27 different institutions including NSIC opponents Augustana, UMary, Southwest Minnesota State, and St. Cloud State from the DWU Alumni Open.

• Northern is coming off a 42-3 win at home versus Saint John's University Thursday evening
• The Wolves tallied four extra point victories in the win, led by Marcus Placide (184) and Garret Thompson (157) with wins by fall
• Walker Carr and Caden Moore added the final two extra point victories, as Carr notched a 17-0 technical fall and Moore tallied a 12-3 major decision
• Diego Gallegos, Caleb Lefferdink, and Robert Coyle III each tallied decision wins
• Diego Gallegos and Marcus Placide lead the Wolves this season with five wins apiece
• NSU opened the year ranked fourth in the NWCA regionally rankings with eight wrestlers ranked individually

• Northern finished in fourth place as a team at the 2018 DWU Open
• Kolton Roth led the way for the Wolves winning the 141 pound bracket with a 5-0 record on the day and two victories by fall
• Caden Moore placed second at 149 pounds with a 4-1 record overall, falling to James Pleski from St. Cloud State in the championship
• Dayne Morton (125) and Kaden Campbell (184) each recorded third place finishes from the meet, while Diego Gallegos took fifth at 197 pounds
