Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State swim team travels to Fargo this weekend as they gear up to compete in a quad meet with Northern Michigan, St. Cloud, and MSU Moorhead. The University of South Dakota will also be in competition; however, the Wolves will not score team points versus the Coyotes. Competition opens up at 6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday, using the 13 event meet program each day.
About Northern
- NSU enters the weekend 0-3 after opening their season at the UMary Quad two weekends ago
- The Wolves tallied 35 top-10 finishes and several lifetime bests from the meet
- Delaney Ryken took seventh in the mile with a time of 19:03.17, right in front of Hannah Kiernan taking eighth at 19:20.49
- Jordan Metz rounded out the top-10 in the mile with a time of 20:14.21
- Lauren Forsyth placed sixth in the 400 IM touching the boards at 4:56.76, followed by teammate Kiernan placing seventh in 5:00.88
- Lexie Malimanek rounded out the top-10 in the 200 fly with 2:29.74
About Northern Michigan
- Northern Michigan competed last weekend against Findlay, coming away with a 199-92 victory
- NMU locked up the first, second, and third place finishes in the 1000 freestyle with freshman Maria Arakelian winning the race with a time of 10:44.34
- Northern Michigan won both the 200 medley with a time of 1:47.60, and the 200 freestyle in 1:39.62
- Katharina Springhetti took home the 200 breaststroke crown for the Wildcats with a time of 2:25.35
- The Wildcats are led by Heidi Voigt in her eighth season
About St. Cloud State
- The Huskies will open their season this weekend in Fargo
- SCSU is expected to finish first in the NSIC this year with swimmer to watch Chelsea Gehrke a senior backstroke and IM swimmer
- St. Cloud is an experienced squad with 18 juniors and seniors, in addition to welcoming nine freshman
- The Huskies are led by Head Coach Jeff Hegle in his 18th season
About MSU Moorhead
- MSU Moorhead will kick off their season this weekend
- The Dragons are predicted to finish sixth in conference swim just ahead of your Wolves
- MSU Moorhead's swimmer to watch this year is senior Breah Anderson, a 50, and 100 freestyle swimmer
- MSUM is another experience squad from the league, with only three freshman rostered
- The Dragons are led by second year head coach Charles King
