Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State swimming returns home for their first Gypsy Days meet, after opening the 2019-20 season in Bismarck last weekend. The Wolves will face off against the Vikings of Augustana, with the first race off the blocks at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 11 from the Aberdeen YMCA.
About Northern
- The Wolves opened the season at UMary Quad versus the Marauders, Augustana, and Sioux Falls, where they recorded several personal bests; including some top finishes from their 2019-20 freshmen
- Northern went 0-3 from the meet with scores of 292-128 (Mary), 319-89 (AU), and 329-78 (USF)
- Annalise Bishop started the year in the 100 breast with a lifetime best of 1:12.46
- Melani Mercer also recorded a lifetime best in the 100 and 200 backstroke to start off her freshman campaign with times of 1:05.47 in the 100 backstroke and 2:21.74 in the 200 backstroke
About Augustana
- The Vikings also competed at the UMary Quad going 2-1 on the weekend, with wins over NSU and UMary
- Augie's NSIC swimmer to watch, Taylor Beagle took home top honors in the 1650 freestyle and 500 freestyle
- Augustana had a total of 22 swimmers in the top-10 at the conclusion of the weekend
- The Vikings are led by head coach Lindsie Micko in her third season
