Aberdeen, S.D. – Following the Fall 2018 semester, all 15 intercollegiate athletic teams at Northern State University have recorded a 3.0 GPA or higher, with a department mark of 3.36. In addition, for the eight straight semester the entire department has tallied a GPA of 3.30 or above.
"Our student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom and we are very proud of their hard work and dedication to maintaining our culture of academic excellence," noted Director of Athletics,
Josh Moon. "Our coaches continue to do a great job recruiting student-athletes who are serious about getting their degrees and being academic leaders on this campus."
Volleyball led the way with a 3.73 semester mark while in season, followed by the softball team with a 3.66 semester GPA. Men's basketball and women's cross country were the final two teams above a 3.5 with 3.58 marks.
The Wolves have proven that academic success also translates to the field of play with four of the top five teams finishing in the top-5 of the NSIC standings in their respective seasons. Wolves volleyball, men's basketball, and women's basketball won the NSIC regular season conference championships, while Wolves softball tallied their highest league finish in recent history taking fifth last spring.
