Aberdeen, S.D. – After a 3-1 start to league action, the Northern State University softball team will hit the road for their first midweek games of the season. Northern is set to face St. Cloud State Wednesday, April 4 at 12 and 2 p.m. in St. Cloud. The games were originally scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, but were pushed back a day due to forecasted snow.
The Wolves enter the doubleheader with a 13-11 record overall and 3-1 mark in the NSIC. Northern his hitting .327 as a team this season with 208 hits, 44 doubles, two triples, 12 homeruns, 115 runs scored, and 108 RBI. Seven of the nine starters are hitting above .300 this season, with
Kennady Thompson leading the attack with a .432 average. Thompson has a team leading 32 hits, 19 RBI, and five doubles this season. The Northern pitching staff holds a 4.63 ERA through 155.2 innings pitched with a .284 opponent batting average.
Jamie Fisher leads the staff with a 9-6 record overall including three shutout victories and three saves. Fisher holds a 2.88 ERA with 55 strikeouts and a .252 opponent average. Defensively the Wolves are fielding .939 this season with 467 putouts, 222 assists, and 45 errors.
