Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team hits the road for four regional games this Saturday and Sunday from Missouri. The Missouri Western Tournament was shifted to a regional crossover due to weather, and the Wolves will now face Missouri Western, Washburn, Northwest Missouri State, and Central Missouri. NSU will face MWSU and WU from St. Joseph, and NWMSU and CMU from Maryville.
The Wolves enter the weekend with a 9-7 record overall, after a 7-5 week down in Florida. As a team, NSU is hitting .331 with 138 hits, 25 doubles, one triple, six homeruns, 74 RBI, and 80 runs scored. Two Wolves are hitting above .400 this season, while another eight are hitting above .300. Defensively, Northern holds a .943 fielding percentage with 304 putouts, 141 assists, and 27 errors. The pitching staff has a 4.53 ERA through 101.1 innings pitched with 47 strikeouts and a .271 opponent batting average.
Kennady Thompson and
Cassidy Schaar lead the team hitting .447 and .44 this season. Thompson has recorded a time high 21 hits and 13 RBI, as well as the lone triple.
Shayla Steinley leads the team with 11 runs scored, while
Katie Dawson has belted three of the team's six homeruns.
Jamie Fisher leads the team on the mound with a 6-3 record overall this season. The junior holds a 1.91 ERA through 66.0 innings pitched. She has three shutout victories and two saves on the year, leading the Wolves with 37 strikeouts and a .206 opponent batting average.
About Missouri Western – March 17 @ 10 a.m.
