Wrestling Welcomes No.6 Peacocks and Dragons this Weekend

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University wrestling team will continue their home stand this Friday and Saturday with two NSIC duals against No. 6 Upper Iowa and MSU Moorhead. Match start time is set for 7 p.m. each night from Wachs Arena.
 
The Wolves enter the weekend with a 1-9 record overall and 0-3 mark in the NSIC. Northern is coming off a loss to No. 1 St. Cloud State despite some hard fought matches. Tanner Olson notched a big win for the Wolves handing No. 1 Larry Bomstad his first loss of the season at 157 pounds. Olson took the 3-2 sudden victory win and was named the NSIC Wrestler of the Week for his efforts.
 
Paxton Mewes leads the active roster with a 9-4 record overall and a team leading five victories by fall. He also holds the quickest pin of the season for the team, just ten seconds into the match. Wolves fans may see the return of senior Blake Perryman this weekend. Perryman holds an 11-2 record overall on the year and 1-1 mark in dual competition. He opened the season winning the Jimmie Invite and holds a team second best four technical fall victories.  
 
About the Peacocks
- Upper Iowa is currently ranked at No. 6 in the nation with 47 team points in the NWCA Top-25 Poll
- The Peacocks are 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the NSIC this season with their only league loss coming to U-Mary
