Aberdeen, S.D. – After splitting with St. Cloud State in their second home series of the season, the Northern State University softball team will continue league play on the road this weekend versus Southwest Minnesota State and the University of Sioux Falls. The Wolves are currently 19-12-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the NSIC.
As a unit, NSU has gone .312 from the plate with 47 doubles, four triples and 20 homeruns. The Wolves have 10 athletes batting above .300 on the year.
Jenna Helgeson continues to lead the offense with an average of .404 and a slugging percentage of .681, as well as a team-high nine doubles. The sophomore went 5-for-6 against the Huskies with a pair of doubles and a walk.
The Northern State pitching staff has held opponents to a batting average of .273 with 2.82 earned runs a game.
Missy Elkins leads the team with nine wins from the mound, followed by
Jamie Fisher who has collected 49 strikeouts in 77.0 innings pitched.
The Wolves will face the Mustangs at 2 and 4 p.m. from Marshall, Minn. on Friday and then travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on the Cougars at 12 and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
