Wolves and Golden Eagles Face Off Thursday

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team continues their home stand Thursday with a doubleheader against Minnesota Crookston. The game was pushed back a day due to inclement weather in the forecast for Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. from Fossum Field. 
 
NSU went 1-5 on the week versus No. 19 Minnesota State and Wayne State College. The Wolves hit .235 with 40 hits, 20 runs scored, seven doubles, four homeruns, and 18 RBI. In the 9-1 victory over the Wildcats, the Wolves tallied five runs in the bottom of the first inning while notching ten hit in the game. The Northern State pitching staff tallied a 4.50 ERA through the six games with 36 strikeouts including a week high ten against the Wildcats in game two on Sunday. Lucas Lorenz and Mikey Barreneche led the team with six hits on the week. Lorenz went 6-for-18 with four runs, two RBI and a homerun, while Barreneche went 6-for-21 with two runs and two RBI. Luke Chevalier tallied the lone pitching victory for the Wolves in his fifth complete game of the season. Chevalier notched three strikeouts and gave up just three hits and one unearned run. He is now 5-2 on the year with a team leading 1.64 ERA.
