Wolves Travel to Mankato Tomorrow for Doubleheader Versus Minnesota State

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team will head to face Minnesota State tomorrow after weather caused the games to be pushed up a day. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. between the Wolves and Mavericks.
 
NSU went 4-2 this past week on the road at Minot State and the University of Mary. The Wolves are now 16-18 overall and 9-13 in the league. The Wolves hit .289 with 56 hits, 57 runs scored, 14 doubles, three triples, eight homeruns, and 50 RBI. Their eight homeruns were the most in any week thus far in 2017, notching multiple in three games. The Northern State staff threw 44.0 innings with a 3.89 ERA. They gave up 25 runs, 19 earned, on 42 hits and struck out 35 on the week. Despite their two loss, the Wolves out-scored their opponents 57-25 in the six games.
 
Lucas Lorenz led the team offensively hitting .409 with two doubles, a triple, four homeruns, eight runs scored, and 12 RBI. The junior slugged a season high 1.136. Tyler Gripentrog was second on the team hitting .353 with two doubles, seven runs scored, and two RBI. Nick Hoffard led the pitching staff with two wins, throwing 16.2 innings. The senior tallied a 2.16 ERA and recorded eight strikeouts. Luke Chevalier threw a gem against the Marauders going a complete seven innings. The sophomore pitched a 2-hit shutout and struck out a season high 11 UMary batters.
 
About the Mavericks
- Minnesota State enters the week ranked No. 19 in the nation with a 28-7 record overall and 23-3 mark in league play.
- Eric Peterson is leading four hitters with a .383 average and a team leading 46 hits.
- Josh Wenzel is leading the team with 33 RBI and nine homeruns.
- The Mavericks are hitting .301 with 324 hits, 243 runs scored, 61 doubles, four triples, 40 homeruns, and 211 RBI.
- Dalton Roach leads four undefeated starters for the Mavericks with a 6-0 record and 1.57 ERA. He also holds a team leading 71 strikeouts.
