Wolves Roll Past Bulldogs in 13 Point NSIC Victory

Duluth, Minn. – The Northern State University men's basketball team recorded their 20th win of the season Friday, defeating Minnesota Duluth 93-80 on the road. The Wolves improve to 20-4 overall and 16-5 in the league, heading into their final game of the regular season tomorrow evening.
 
The Wolves led the entire 40 minutes of play scoring 49 points in the first and another 44 in the second half. As a team, NSU shot 50 percent from the floor, 53.6 percent from the arc, and 90 percent from the foul line. They tallied 24 points in the paint, 35 points off the bench, 15 points off turnovers, nine second chance points, and gave up only six turnovers on offensive.
 
Mack Arvidson led the Wolves offense with 21 points, knocking down 7-of-12 from the 3-point line. He also added three assists in the win. Carter Evans led the Wolves off the bench and tallied a team second best 18 points. Evans added a team leading ten points in his third double-double of the season. DJ Pollard was the final Wolf in double figures adding 16 points and a team second best four assists.
 
Ian Smith led the team with five assists, appearing in just 17 minutes after a physical play early in the second half. The Wolves sophomore added nine points and three rebounds to the team total. Gabe King matched Smith with nine points of his own, and recorded a team leading two blocks. Logan Doyle and Justin Decker rounded out the starters recording eight and four points respectively, while Doyle added six rebounds to the team's 27 in the game.
 
Bo Fries and Jonny Dahl scored the final points for the team with five and three respectively, each making one long range basket. The Wolves were out-rebounded in the game, however were more efficient following offensive boards.
 
Following the contest NSU starters Arvidson and Pollard are one step closer to reaching the 1000 point career milestone. With his 21 points, Arvidson bumped up to 979 total, while Pollard sits just two points shy of the mark after notching 16 in the win.
 
NSU will travel to face St. Cloud State tomorrow at 6 p.m. from St. Cloud. The Wolves will then return home next Wednesday to open the NSIC Tournament from Wachs Arena at 8 p.m. following the women's game.
