Wolves Bounce Back with 82-73 Victory over St. Cloud State

Aberdeen, S.D.  – The Northern State University men's basketball team returned home after a 4-game road stint, defeating St. Cloud State 82-73 on Friday. With the win, the Wolves improve to 13-6 overall and 9-4 in league action.
 
Logan Doyle led the team, and nearly matched his career high with 23 points in the win. The junior shot 10-of-14 from the floor, and added a team leading nine rebounds. Ian Smith returned to the starting line-up and was second on the team with 13 points, followed by Carter Evans with 12. Smith led the team with five assists, and notched a team second best seven rebounds alongside Evans. Mack Arvidson and Jonny Dahl rounded out the double-digit scorers with ten each in the game. Dahl was 4-of-8 from the floor with career high in points.
 
The Wolves shot 44.6 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from the arc, and 79.2 percent from the foul line in the win. Northern also tallied 46 points in the paint, 22 points off turnovers, 22 points off the bench, and ten second chance points. NSU edged out SCSU on the boards, 39-35 in the win and forced eight more team turnovers.
 
The two team's battled through the four minutes of action with three lead changes and one time. Northern held the largest lead of either team in the game, with a score of 50-38 at the 18 minute mark in the second half. The Huskies crept back to tie the game at 54 all with 12 minutes remaining and again at 65 all with just under five minutes on the clock. Doyle propelled the Wolves from their notching six points in the final four minutes of action. Northern also knocked down 9-of-12 crucial free throws as the Huskies played the foul game.
 
Starters Gabe King and DJ Pollard added the team's final points in the game with seven each. Arvidson, Pollard, and King each added two assists, while Doyle led the team with two steals. Doyle, King, and Evans each notched a block for the team as well.
 
Northern returns to Wachs Arena tomorrow for a 6 p.m. match-up with the visiting Bulldogs from Minnesota Duluth.
