Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team will return home to the Moccasin Creek Softball Complex after playing 10 consecutive games on the road. Midway through conference action, the Wolves have accumulated an overall record of 14-22, and stand 4-8 in the NSIC.
Northern State picked up their second conference sweep of the season on Thursday against Minot State, defeating the Beavers 5-1 in game one and clinching game two 2-1 in extra innings.
Kelsey Gale and
Jamie Fisher each recorded two hits for the Wolves in game one, while senior
Macey Engel connected for two in the second contest with a homerun. Designated player,
Katelynn Dilts sealed the NSU victory in the bottom of the ninth with an RBI single up the middle.
Kelsey Gale continues to propel the Wolves offensively batting .366 with 16 stolen bases. Seniors
Macey Engel and
Brittney Lash have found power from the plate, as the two have connected for five homeruns each on the year.
The Northern State pitching staff, consisting of
Missy Elkins,
Jamie Fisher and
Rachel Albright, hold a combined ERA of 3.44 through 36 games.
The Wolves will take on Concordia- St. Paul at 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday and Minnesota State at 12 and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
About Concordia- St. Paul
- The Golden Bears have tallied an overall record of 11-21, with a conference record of 5-7.
- In the 2015 season, Concordia- St. Paul finished 16-37 overall and 10-20 in the NSIC.
