St. Paul, Minn. – The Northern State University baseball team dropped a pair of 8-3 battles with Concordia-St. Paul in NSIC action. The Wolves dropped to 11-16 overall and 4-10 in league action.
Game 1
The Wolves fell behind 2-0 in the second inning of game one, and fought back cutting the Golden Bear led in half in the top of the fourth.
Lucas Lorenz led off the inning with a walk and scored the next at-bat on
Ben Allen's double to left field. The game however slipped away in the bottom half of the inning with four Golden Bear runs and a 6-1 lead.
Northern battled back in the fifth, as
Kolin Kubitz connected for a homerun to left scoring
Easton Lopez who singled up the middle to lead off the inning. Kubitz led the team with two hits, two RBI, and a run scored.
Ben Allen also notched two hits in the game, and connected for the team's third RBI.
Mikey Barreneche and
Easton Lopez connected for the team's final two hits in the game.
Colton Boucher suffered the loss for the Wolves giving up five earned runs on five hits in four innings of work.
Phil Sauer and
Colton Landreth entered in relief for NSU, throwing the final two innings of work.
Game 2
Concordia again jumped out to a 7-0 lead through the first four innings of play. Northern battled back with three runs in the fifth, seventh, and ninth however it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
The NSU offense combined for nine hits in the game and three RBI.

Chris Gonzales led the team with a homerun, and doubles respectively. Also recording hits in the game were

Matt Stubbs,
Ben Allen,
Preston Brown, and
Tyler Gripentrog.
Dillon Lee suffered the loss for the Wolves giving up four earned runs on seven hits in three innings of work.
Andrew Nichols entered for one inning of relief, followed by
Kris Johnson and
Patrick Leary. Johnson and Leary combined for four scoreless innings of work.
The Wolves return home for a 9-inning game versus Presentation College tomorrow and a weekend NSIC series with Minot State University.
