Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team is set for two days of midweek competition beginning tomorrow. The Wolves will travel to Concordia-St. Paul on Wednesday to take on the Golden Bears in an NSIC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Northern will then return home Thursday for a 5 p.m. 9-inning game versus Presentation College from Fossum Field.
The Wolves enter the week after a pair of doubleheader rain outs versus Wayne State College. Northern is 11-14 overall this season and 4-8 in league action.
Jack Schmidt is leading the Wolves offense with 50 hits, 11 doubles, 34 runs scored, 32 RBI, and a .500 average this season. Schmidt is followed by senior
Matt Stubbs with a .443 average and a team, second best 43 hits, eight doubles, and 29 RBI. The Wolves are hitting .331 as a team this season with 287 hits, 195 runs scored, 51 doubles, ten triples, 32 homeruns, and 171 RBI.
Colton Boucher is leading the team on the mound with four wins and 35 strikeouts in 2016. Boucher is also third on the team with a 4.95 ERA in 36.1 innings pitched.
Nick Hoffard and
Marcus Manderbach are the final Wolves with multiple wins this season.
Dillon Lee has been strong for NSU in his senior campaign making nine appearances. Lee has a team leading 3.06 ERA with two saves and a .206 opponent average.
About the Golden Bears
- Concordia-St. Paul enters the week on a 5-game loss streak and 4-game sweep versus Minnesota Duluth
